We would like to update you on a significant change related to the supported operating systems that is coming with the next major orcad, allegro, and Sigrity release in 2015. We know that 2015 seems a long way off, but this information is important as it may require an OS upgrade and possibly planning with your IT organization.
) G8 A! D W3 I9 @4 s" ^Starting with the 17.0 release, all OrCAD, Allegro, and Sigrity products will only function on 64-bit operating systems.1 T1 |! v& \% W) X% y A5 w- {
The only operating systems that will be supported with 17.0 release are: v% [0 r" x8 K* K+ r6 |
• Windows 7 64-bit
" W; a2 f8 R* G& {8 ]• Windows 8 64-bit6 k% v6 L9 _! g! Y, Q* t3 I
• Redhat Linux 64-bit (Allegro PCB Editor, PCB Router, PCB SI and Sigrity only)0 C! d% c1 @9 K& G; t
• Susie Linux 64-bit (Allegro PCB Editor, PCB Router, PCB SI and Sigrity only)' j J8 S: R: G) R
Please note that Windows XP 64-bit and Windows Vista 64-bit will NOT supported. Also note that the 17.0 release will NOT install on a 32-bit operating system.) S9 b9 I' Q, ^3 @
The advantages of OrCAD, Allegro, and Sigrity products on a 64-bit operating system include improved peRFormance on large designs when performing compute intensive tasks such as:

• Large area fills and regeneration
